Kane County Sheriff's Office: TIPS411 Anonymous Tip Hotline
Report a crime online or with a text message
In case of emergencies, dial 911 immediately!
Our ability to solve crimes and create a safer Kane County has a lot to do with citizen involvement. The Kane County Sheriff’s Department is now using anonymous two-way communications technologies to collect tips or other information from private citizens to help us solve crimes and create a safer community.
When you submit a tip online or through a text message (see below), it is sent to a third party tip service acting as a privacy buffer between you and the Kane County Sheriff’s Office to preserve your identity and keep your contact information completely private.
If you have a tip for the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, please use any of the three options below - text, online, or phone - to help provide important information on crimes or criminals, helping us keep Kane County safe for everyone. Please note: tip submissions may not be received until the following day.
In case of emergency dial 911.
If the situation is not an emergency but still requires an officer to respond soon, dial the non-emergency number: 435-644-2349.
Option 1: TEXT 847411
Mobile phone users can text information to 847411
Simply type KANE, enter a space, then type your tip and hit send. The message must start with the keyword KANE.
When the text message is delivered, the sender's phone number is completely anonymous and is never received by the Sheriff's Office.
Option 2: Download the Kane County TIPS App
Option 3: Send Tip Online
Be sure to keep track of your access code after submitting a tip online. You will receive a message with a confirmation that your tip was received and instructions to follow up with more information. Most tips require a follow up to gather additional details. If you do not check on the status of your tip or reply to any requests for additional information, the tip may not be able to be investigated.
Option 4: Call (435) 644-4999
This number is a recorder line and a detective is notified when a call is recorded. DO NOT USE THIS NUMBER TO REPORT AN EMERGENCY. FOR EMERGENCIES, DIAL 911. This number DOES capture the caller’s number, but a tip can be left as a voice message without giving any additional details.
